Kickboxing

Kickboxing can be looked from three different perspectives. Sport, fitness or self defense. In the fitness world it is known for it's cardio benefits. It is an art of kicks and punches. There are different types of matches with different rules and protective gear. There is the point matches where points are scored based on light taps to a target point even though protective gear is worn. The more advanced fighters will fight without a shirt in their matches. So there are full and light contact matches.

Do not confuse kickboxing with Muay Thai or Thai Kickboxing, they are two different styles. In the Thai kickboxing styles strikes below the belt are allowed. Many arts are called kickboxing in France, Japan and America. They may all have their own set of principals.
